What We Believe

WE BELIEVE IN JESUS

We believe in Jesus, the forgiveness of sins and the resurrection of the dead.

We believe in Jesus as the Word incarnate and believe in the truth and trustworthiness of the Christian Scriptures.

We love Jesus and hold that the center of the biblical message is the incarnation, ministry, death, burial, resurrection, ascension and enthronement of Jesus at the right hand of the Father.

WE BELIEVE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

We believe the Christian Faith in all its maturity, fullness and glory.

We see ourselves as part of the historic Christian Church and hold to historic Christian teaching.

We believe in the Trinitarian God and hold to the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed (and more), think highly of the church fathers and the Faith that was passed down among the Saints (Jude 3).

We strive towards love and charity among the Christian community at Calvary and beyond, valuing the maxim, “In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”

OUR HERITAGE

We also find our heritage in the Protestant Reformation, gladly stand with Luther, Calvin and the Magisterial Reformers of the 16th Century, and rejoice in teaching it.

We are Presbyterian, hold to the Westminster Standards, are part of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and enjoy the rich history and contributions of those in the Reformed Tradition.

We see the richness in the Reformed Faith as it relates to Christian doctrine, worship and life, looking to faithfully and practically apply the Bible, believing, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”
